THEOS-2 ready for blastoff

The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency( Gistda ) has announced that Thailand Earth Observation Satellite 2 ( THEOS-2 ) will be launched in October.

According to the organization, it was safely transported from Toulouse, France, to French Guiana, South America’s Spaceport for Europe.

Before being installed on the skyrocket, which is expected to launch next month, Gistda announced on its official Facebook page that Airbus Defence and Space’s THEOS – 2 may receive another inspection.

TheOS-2 will take the place of its previous dish THEOS-1, also known as Thaichote, which was launched on October 1, 2008. According to Gistda, THEOS-1 is nearing the end of its useful life.

TheOS-2, a 425 kilogram satellite, is responsible for managing disasters and achieving security objectives. It can make 50 centimeter high-resolution pictures. Thailand’s area business, geoinformatics, human resources, and space technology are all expected to be improved by the satellite.

Additionally, according to Gistda, the dish will help with ecosystems, natural resources, mapping, agricultural and food management, water management.

The investment in THEOS – 2 may expand storage systems and increase the nation’s income, according to Pakorn Apaphant, executive producer and member of the executive table of Gistda.
