When LTA Tang learned that his father was in critical condition, he was in the midst of his 44-week much education in Sandhurst in December 2023.
The late Mr. Tang had a tumor on his right foot that had been present since 2021, which eventually led to an amputation.
“It’s ( in ) that moment when you feel helpless; don’t know what you can do. LTA Tang said in an interview with the media on Monday ( Apr 22 ), all I wanted was to at least see him once more.
He sought acceptance to travel up to Singapore, and visited his father at the hospital. LTA Tang made the promise that he would receive his father’s exclusive International Sword at that time.
He said,” It was the last thing I thought I could give my dad the honor,” he said.
A few days later, his parents took his last breath.
“My mum told me that ( it was as if ) he held on all the way till the end, till I’m back before he ( died ), ” said the lieutenant.
