The show squandered no time addressing the exit of Jeff Garlin from the sitcom, mentioning in the starting moments of Wednesday’s season premiere that will patriarch Murray got passed away “just a few months ago” and continued to show the family nevertheless processing their tremendous grief.

Then they enter the nursery, only to find the seat was taken by Pop-Pop (Judd Hirsch) and converted into a rocking chair for the baby’s room.
“This room will be finally perfect, ” Erica says.
