Thammasat University’s hospital has opened its Thammasat Advanced Medical Center ( THAMC), which offers premium medical services, as it marks the 90th anniversary of the university’s establishment.

Prof Surapon Nitikraipot, chairman of the Thammasat University Council, said during the formal opening of the THAMC on Thursday that it was founded under the school’s process of serving individuals.

He claimed that Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the monarch of India, laid the foundation stone about 30 years ago, adding that the king at the time stated to an audience that people may depend on the doctor.

He claimed that the doctor originally intended to care for staff and students who lived on the Rangsit campus, adding that hospital services have since expanded to better serve the general public. The doctor cares for over 5, 000 clinics per day or 1.5 million per month, he said. Its yearly budget is about 7.5 billion rmb, he noted. ” We have provided our medical treatments for all, regardless of nationality and income based on the school’s philosophy”, Prof Surapon said. ” Maybe, we need to pay money to treat people who are without money.”

” This is the main reason why we created THAMC,” he continued, adding that people can get advanced treatment at reduced costs.

He added that patients at THAMC may receive special treatment from physician teams made up of professors and practitioners with the best medical equipment for about 50 % less than a superior private clinic.

He noted that THAMC’s services are also about 30 % less expensive than those at Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital, which is run by Mahidol University’s Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

The second step of THAMC was launched on June 17, featuring professional clinics, including an orthopedic doctor, surgery center, skin- care clinic and child clinic. It now has 150 rooms and can provide up to 1, 500 clinics regularly. By the middle of November, complete services are anticipated to be in place.

Dr Chittinud Havanonda, THAMC chairman, said that the 50, 000m² tower is designed to be economically friendly and energy efficient. According to him, the Thai Green Building Institute has declared the building to be a “platinum amount” tower in terms of environmentally friendly houses.

The center offers a better option for individuals who want superior care from us. Interestingly, the money each person spends will be able to help the poor entry medical therapy, “he said.

Jatuwat Varodompun, the project assistant, said that it is the first doctor to get platinum- level status. The government approved 1.8 billion baht for the job, which took around five years to complete after a pause due to the Covid- 19 pandemic, he said.

Due to advanced green technology, the building can save 37 % of energy consumption and 58 % of water use reduction, he said.

He said about 30 % of the property’s supplies were recovered, and another 30 % were natural substances produced within the state.
