SURIN: Paroled ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra traveled to this state in Thailand’s lower northern region, where the Pheu Thai Party dominated the majority of House tickets. The Thai Rak Thai dynasty’s founder vowed to begin material projects that would benefit the general public quickly.

Thaksin made his first landing at Buri Ram aircraft in Satuk, a district of Buri Ram state, from Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport. He was greeted warmly by Surin MPs and current and former officials from Pheu Thai. Next he took a road trip to nearby Surin.

In Surin, Thaksin traveled to Wat Suwan Wichit in the Prasat area to lead a meeting to celebrate His Majesty the King’s fifth birthday celebration.

He stated during the service that he would begin working on projects that would have tangible outcomes for the benefit of other Thai citizens throughout the country after August.

However, Sahakan Phetnarin, director-general of the Department of Corrections, said Thaksin’s six-month-long pardon would finish in August, and later he would not have to review to the office anymore.

Surin, which is close to Buri Ram, is regarded as a social hotspot for the Bhumjaithai Party, which borders Surin.

Political spectators noted that Bhumjaithai, now a part of the Pheu Thai-led partnership state, had tried properly to get House votes in Surin.

In the 2011 general vote, Bhumjaithai won seven of the eight House chairs that were available in Surin. In 2019, Pheu Thai collected five seats, while Bhumjaithai even won one chair out of seven, which is similar to the Palang Pracharath Party.

Pheu Thai won just three seats while Bhumjaithai won five next year. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thaksin’s youngest baby, leads Pheu Thai.
