After being arraigned on charges of lese-majeste and computer murder in connection with comments made during an interview in 2015, the Criminal Court has released former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra on parole of 500, 000 ringgit.

According to the Office of the Attorney-General’s official, Thaksin reported to the public prosecutor on Tuesday night and was taken to the Criminal Court for trial for alleged misconduct.

Prayut Phetcharakhun said the jury accepted the situation at 8.56am on Tuesday, actually making Thaksin a plaintiff.

Late last month, the OAG announced its decision to prosecute Thaksin, who was on&nbsp, parole&nbsp, at the time. The prosecution, initially set for an earlier time, was postponed to Tuesday ( June 18 ) because Thaksin had apparently contracted Covid- 19.

Thaksin, 74, is accused of defaming the king during an appointment with the North Korean paper Chosun Ilbo&nbsp, on May 21, 2015. He claimed in the meeting that secret councillors backed the revolution that overthrew Yingluck Shinawatra’s government in 2014.

Gen Udomdej Sitabutr, the next deputy defence secretary in Gen Prayut Chan- o cha’s military authorities, filed the initial complaint about the meeting in 2015.

Gen Udomdej’s decree to the Judge Advocate General’s Department to sue Thaksin, prompting the OAG to record a complaint. The Criminal Court accepted the situation for trial in 2015 and issued an arrest warrant for Thaksin, who remained abroad and did not return to Thailand until&nbsp, August &nbsp, last year.

The comments made during the meeting, according to authorities, were in contravention of both the Computer Crimes Act and Section 112 of the Criminal Code.

Before, the OAG’s official said that Attorney- General Amnat Chetcharoenrak had decided to&nbsp, indict&nbsp, Thaksin on both claims, as proposed by authorities. &nbsp,

The system crime cost is related to Thaksin entering information into a computer program that was deemed to be a threat to national security.

Thaksin, who denies any wrongdoing, may experience pre- test confinement if he is denied loan by the Criminal Court, following the indictment.

For each perceived royal attack, the lese-majeste rules carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
