In the Udon Thani provincial administrative organization ( PAO ) chairman election, the ruling Pheu Thai Party believes former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra had a significant influence on its candidate’s victory.

Anusorn Iamsa-ard, a Pheu Thai record MP, said that the success was due to several factors, including the social experience of the applicant, Sarawut Pethpanomporn, as well as local residents ‘ confidence in the Pheu Thai-led authorities.

However, according to Mr. Anusorn,” Thaksin’s key contribution was that he assisted Mr. Sarawut at a campaign rally in Udon Thani.”

Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, a crucial Pheu Thai number, echoed the watch, saying that the poll success was largely because Thaksin assisted in the election campaign. Thaksin’s popularity with locals is attributed to the fact that many of his policies, while in office, addressed nearby demands, he claimed.

Thaksin thanked Mr. Sarawut for winning the election on Sunday evening and expressed hope that the momentum would last until the following common election.

In a film visit to Mr. Sarawut, who was watching the vote count with Pheu Thai followers, Thaksin addressed him with his congratulations.

Mr. Sarawut even thanked Pheu Thai supporters for assisting him in avoiding the shame he might have experienced had the former prime minister supported him.

According to unofficial results, Mr Sarawut won the race with 327, 487 votes, beating Kanisorn Khurirang from the People’s Party ( PP ), who received 268, 675 votes.

After losing to Nattapong Pipatchaisiri in the general election last year, the outcome was retaliation for Mr. Sarawut. The party’s leadership was the newly resurrected Move Forward Party ( MPF).

But, Stithorn Thananithichot, director of the Office of Innovation for Democracy at the King Prajadhipok’s Institute, told the Bangkok Post that he did not think Pheu Thai secured a ballot victory in Udon Thai because of Thaksin’s aid in the plan.

Because Udon Thani has long been Pheu Thai’s help base, he said,” Also if Thaksin had never participated in the campaign rally, Pheu Thai would have won.”
