Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister of Malaysia, mentioned the circumstance in Myanmar and the rise of cryptocurrencies in conversation with former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Mr. Anwar stated in a Facebook post on February 2 that the dialogue touched on the part of cryptocurrencies and the situation in Myanmar, but he did not give specifics.
The Indonesian president described the meeting as “productive,” sharing a photo of him and Thaksin.
He added that George Yeo, a former foreign minister of Singapore, also attended the meeting afterwards.
It was thought that the meeting took place in Kuala Lumpur.
Prior to Malaysia’s appointment as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ‘ head of unofficial experts on Asean matters in December of last year, Thaksin was appointed one of Mr. Anwar’s in-house advisors.

Thaksin’s first international trip since returning to Thailand in August 2023 is marked by the Indonesian visit.
