According to Justice Minister Thawee Sodsong, former premier of Imprisoned Thaksin Shinawatra has not asked for a minute royal pardon in order to reduce his sentence.

Thaksin and his family have not requested a second royal pardon since receiving the first one, which saw His Majesty the King reduce his eight-year prison name to one year, according to Pol Col Thawee on Wednesday.

After living in self-exile for 15 times, Thaksin, 74, returned to Thailand on August 22. The Supreme Court ruled that he be imprisoned for eight times on the same day for three views.

He has since remained at Police General Hospital after being transported that that evening from Bangkok Remand Prison due to health reasons.

The justice minister added on Wednesday that the Corrections Department did take medical professionals ‘ recommendations into account before deciding whether to extend Thaksin’s hospitalization outside of prison by 120 days at the end of this quarter.
