According to a crusading past politician who claimed on Friday that the picture of Thaksin Shinawatra playing with his grandson in the pool was taken two years ago, no some time after the former prime minister’s return to Thailand.
Previous Democrat Party MP Watchara Phetthong used the image to support his request that the House section on law matters investigate allegations that Thaksin is receiving special care at Police General Hospital.
Thaksin, 74, was admitted to the hospital on the evening of August 22, 13 days after being released from prison, and he has been residing there ever since. The Department of Corrections and the Royal Thai Police have denied providing the prisoner with any preferential care.
After more than 15 decades of self-exile worldwide, Thaksin returned to the region on August 22. He was soon given an eight-year prison term, which was later reduced to one year, for abusing his position as top before 2006.
Mr. Watchara stated that he wanted the House section to find out what requirements Thaksin had to meet in order to receive treatment at Police General Hospital. Additionally, he requests that the committee call the police chief and ask him to inform them” on what ground of the doctor the swimming pool was located.”
Many online sleuths quickly deduced that the swimming in question is not in Thailand but rather anywhere else, perhaps in Dubai, where Thaksin spent the majority of his exile.
On July 21, 2021, his child Paetongtarn” Ung Ing” Shinawatra posted the image on her Instagram profile. In April 2022, she posted a picture on her profile that seems to be from the same place.
In the meantime, Thaksin is still recovering from unknown procedure at the hospital. A be of more than 30 days may get approved by the director general of the Department of Corrections based on a medical opinion in accordance with the rules governing criminal payments to outdoor facilities.
The Ministry of Justice’s permanent director must approve the treatment if it lasts longer than 60 days, or in this situation, after October 23. If a course of treatment lasts longer than 120 time, the justice minister must approve it.
