Previous hero Somluck Kamsing appealing judge decision in case involving 17-year-old child
KHON KAEN: Olympic boxing silver medallist Somluck Kamsing has been sentenced to three years, one quarter and 10 days in jail on charges including attempted murder of a girl only over a year ago.
Somluck, 52, said he would charm the beliefs. The Khon Kaen municipal court approved his launch on bail of 300,000 baht.
The jury made its decision on Thursday in connection with an incident involving a 17-year-old woman whom he met at a day place in the northern county in December 2023.
The judge said it believed the charges made by the student based on signs of bruising on her shoulder and near her womb.
The teen, a tribal of Kalasin, previously told the judge that Somluck tried to murder her but could not get an erection, but he rubbed himself almost against her.
The judge dismissed his say that he had the teenager’s acceptance. It even said that although the woman had followed him to a hotel, it did not mean that she was ready to have sex with him.
As also, it said, the army was unable to show any intention to commit adultery because there was no request for money.
The event happened on the day of Dec 9, 2023, and Somluck reported to police for questioning on Dec 15. At the time he told reporters that he had never known the age of the person until he eventually asked her in the motel place. Finally he stopped making improvements, he said.
The judge also ordered Somluck to give 120,000 ringgit in payment to the teen and 50,000 ringgit to her family. His companion Pichet Chinehantha was acquitted in the case.
Somluck told investigators momentarily on Thursday that he would proceed with his army. His attorney Itthisak Atthakornwikrom said more information had yet to be considered.
Somluck, a Khon Kaen indigenous, was a Muay Thai warrior before turning to fighting. He earned a bronze award at the 1989 King’s Cup and a silver medal in the 1995 version. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he won a silver medal in the men’s lightweight section. He was the first Thai swimmer to get a gold medal at the Olympics.
In 2018, Somluck was declared bankrupt after running up debts of around 4 million ringgit from a failed petrol station company. But, the Thailand Boxing Association helped him fix his economic issues.
Somluck expressed appreciation for the support and said he intended to avoid dangerous company projects and would rely instead on his acting career. He has made many appearances in Thai movies and TV series.
