Andaman beach ideal, Samut Prakan worst
The Pollution Control Department has unveiled a list showing the location of the nicest beaches for swimming, and the most polluted, in Thailand.
Director-general Preeyaporn Suwanaged said on Tuesday the “best and worst” record came from a seawater-quality study at 210 sites along , shores nationwide this year.
The survey found that the seawater at 49 % of the locations was of good quality, 43 % of moderate quality, 6 % of deteriorated quality, and 2 %  , highly deteriorated quality, she said.
The 10 with the finest water were all in the South, and most were in Krabi territory.
Seawater of the best value was at Samila shore in Songkhla state, followed by Nai Harn shore in Phuket, Ton Sai shore in Krabi, Maya shore in Krabi, Lo Samah sea in Krabi, Koh Yung in Krabi, Koh Kai in Krabi, Thai Mueang beach in Phangnga, Bang Ben beach in Ranong and Ban Thung Rin beach in Satun.
Additionally, the office included the top five areas with seawater that is extremely polluted. Some were in Samut Prakan territory.
The Chao Phraya River river in Samut Prakan, the 12 Thanwa river lagoon in Samut Prakan, Laem Chabang in Chon Buri, and the Tha Chin River river in Samut Sakhon are the places where the most polluted water is found.
Ms. Preeyaporn reported that 90 % of Thai coasts ‘ seawater was of moderate to high quality over the past ten years. Along the Andaman Sea coastline, which is considerably cleaner, and the most polluted in the interior Gulf of Thailand, where the most pollution is found.
According to her, the transfer of nutrients and bacteria into the lake was the most prevalent cause of pollution.
