According to senior officials, the government will probably enhance its combat against call-scam gangs operating out of Myanmar, including a ban on suspected compliciters at the border and the suspension of exporting solar panels there.
Chatchai Bangchuad, secretary-general of the National Security Council, said on Tuesday that the present anti-scam procedures may get maintained.
If they proved insufficient, more steps may be introduced for better result.
Further procedures could include the expulsion of solar panels exports , to Myanmar, as proposed by the Commerce Ministry, and settings on fuel and cooking oil exports, he said.
Phumtham Wechayachai, the deputy prime minister and minister of defense, declared he had interdict people suspected of having connections to groups from Thailand to Myawaddy and direct them to stay away from border areas close to scam centers.
According to Mr Phumtham, there are 300 to 400 fraud groups operating in and near Thailand’s edges.
He claimed that the government is making strides to assure Thai people who were duped into working for the gangs would gain home.
According to intelligence information, the minister said the minister’s report showed that the cutting of the supply of electricity, gas, and internet service to the border region of Myanmar last week had a significant influence on the Myanmar side of the border and the groups ‘ activities.
Prasert Jantararuangtong, the minister of modern economics and culture, claimed that local authorities have already suspended all internet access. The government do ask our neighbors to also guard against the scammers from gaining access to Starlink if they used the other satellite internet service.
He claimed that swindlers from neighboring nations had imported Starlink food from abroad and passed them through Thailand, which has not permitted the use or sale of Starlink meals.
They imported the goods into Thailand from neighboring nations. We have collected at least 200 meals in total, according to Mr. Prasert, and have seized the items on numerous occasions.
The minister claimed Thai authorities had reduced the level of the computer radios installed in border regions and switched the country’s borders ‘ internet access to only Thai customers and not those in neighboring nations.
Additionally, neighboring countries ‘ online wires had been severed.
” Secretly installed internet cables were disconnected. Over the next three decades, officials will be keeping an eye on these locations every year, according to Mr. Prasert.
Following a visit from a Chinese delegation led by a vice chancellor for safety, the Thai government abruptly shut down energy, petrol, and online access to five areas in the Myawaddy, Payathonzu, and Tachileik areas of Myanmar.
Some Chinese and Thai people have been tricked into working for them in a world of virtual slavery, and the majority of the schemes are carried out by Chinese criminals.
The latest measures and the potential restrictions on solar panels aim to stop the gangs from evading the sanctions by producing their own power. Even though the surrounding areas are in the dark, accounts claim that lights are still on in many of the groups ‘ buildings.
Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the country’s prime minister, added that the sanctions were having an impact, but she wanted to see a marked decrease in Thailand’s con calls.  ,
She added that because it helped the tourism industry, the government do not review its visa-free access policy.
