In a meeting with his North Korean equivalent Cho Tae-yul on Friday, foreign secretary Maris Sangiampongsa demanded aid from the South Korean government to ease travel restrictions from Thailand.
Thailand is one of 46 countries that requires visas before traveling, starting next month. Many Thai travelers have been denied entrance after arriving at airports, but the approval is not a guaranteed ensure of entry.
The #banKorea travel” campaign” urged tourists to leave South Korea and go elsewhere as a result of the passage refusals. That led to a 21 % year-on-year cut – to 119, 455 – in the number of Thai travelers to South Korea in the first four weeks of 2024.

According to Mr. Maris, numerous visits from people from the two nations would serve as the foundation for diplomatic relations. The North Korean news agency reported on Friday that the foreign minister of South Korea hoped for forward-thinking cooperation between the two nations.
