At a unique conference, Thai and European leaders have discussed programs to boost the two countries ‘ defense business. The Thai government wants to purchase 200 billion baht of defense products over the next 20 years.

The launching of the Thailand- France Seminar on the Defence Industry 2024 was just presided over by Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang and the French Ambassador to Thailand at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Defence.

A number of senior officials from defense-related organizations and 100 Thai and French businesses took part in the workshop.

On May 17, Thailand’s Defence Industry and Energy Centre and France’s Direction Generale de l’Armement ( DGA ) signed a letter of intent ( LOI ) as part of an agreement that was contained in the letter of intent ( LOI ) that was to be signed by both parties.

To create a system of Thai and European defense companies, the LOI was signed to establish guidelines and to exchange ideas. This is part of the Thai government’s charge to raise the government’s ability to produce its own military goods.

According to Mr. Sutin, the continuing issues in Europe and the Middle East have led to many nations using a lot of military products in their arsenals, accumulating weapons, and investing in their defense industries.

Mr Sutin mentioned four types of defence products Thailand is producing– armoured vehicles, warships, unmanned aerial vehicles ( UAVs ) and firearms and ammunition, adding the country has the opportunity to sell such products to Asean, Middle Eastern and African countries.

In contrast, he revealed that the Thai government did secure 200 billion bass worth of military vehicles, ships, UAVs, firearms and ammunition.

So, if these products are manufactured in this region, a great amount of income may be generated for the business.

Following Mr. Sutin’s trip to Paris in June for the Eurosatory 2024 show, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin met with the French leader in France in May.
