The Office of the Vocational Education Commission ( Ovec) announced on Wednesday that the teams from Saowabha Vocational College and Saraburi Vocational College in Thailand jointly won the first place prize at the 17th International Collegiate Snow Sculpture Contest in Harbin, China.
Yodsaphon Wenukoset, Ovec secretary-general, said the contest, sponsored by Harbin Engineering University, was held from Jan 4-7 as a part of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival.
The opposition was joined by 55 groups from eight places– Thailand, China, Italy, Germany, Russia, Malaysia, Portugal, and Belarus. Three technical team were present for the occasion by Vec.
With their artwork titled” Bond of the Twin Guardians,” the Saowabha Vocational College’s Fine Art Department took first place. The bit features magical animals believed to have protective power from both nations, as well as a long-lasting and peaceful relationship, inspired by the ongoing diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.
The monument” Thai Fight,” which features animals as a cultural icon and demonstrates the strength of Muay Thai boxing, took first place as did the team from Saraburi Vocational College’s Fine Art Department, which took second position.
A crew from Surat Thani Vocational College’s Fine Art Department took second place with their artwork titled” Thai-Chinese Relationship”. Through the energetic and delicate lion dance, the artwork depicts the migration of Chinese citizens to Thailand.
All three teams did return to Thailand on Thursday, according to Mr. Yodsaphon.
The opposition provided a platform for technical students to showcase their abilities while contributing to the country with this achievement, according to Mr. Yodsaphon.
