In response to the Department of Special Investigation’s ( DSI) plan to investigate complaints relating to the Senate election last year, a group of senators is asking that Justice Minister Pol Col Tawee Sodsong be removed.

Following calls from a group of unsuccessful candidates who demanded that the Election Commission (EC ) step up its investigations or hand them over to the DSI, the DSI will meet on Tuesday to discuss whether to accept an investigation into allegations of vote-fixing.

On Feb 16, Pol Col Tawee, who oversees the DSI, said Senate vote problems had been lodged with the DSI, which found sufficient basis for the complaints.

The minister claimed that some of the claims involved criminal offenses that are covered by the Criminal Code and should be handled by the DSI.

Gen Kriangkrai Srisak, a deputy Senate speech, said that lawmakers are planning to get the minister’s elimination over alleged wrongdoing. He did not elaborate.

He stated that the Senate may ask for a public discussion on the issue without a vote and that a petition will be sent to the Constitutional Court through the Senate Speaker. He added that the discussion is anticipated to occur during the present parliament program.

He added that police problems will be filed as well, adding that a legitimate group has also been assigned to collect evidence against anyone who defamed the Senate.

A Senate committee may even invite interested parties to provide an explanation of the range of their expert in the case and to understand the allegations made against senators under the Criminal Code, according to Gen Kriangkrai.

” The charges have ruined the Senate’s status”, he said.

He even said he suspected that the charges were politically motivated, suggesting they could be directed against “blue union” senators, a reference to the Bhumjaithai Party ( BJT), a federal partnership part.

It’s well known that a large group of senators, about 150 in full, in this station, are affiliated with the BJT.

The DSI has the authority to investigate legal cases that have significant effects on the economy or complicated legal cases, according to Karom Polpornklang, a lieutenant government official and part of the BJT, on Saturday.

He claimed, however, that cases involving constitutional transgressions and election laws would certainly fall under the purview of the DSI.

He claimed that the legislators were chosen in accordance with the Constitution and the Senate election laws, and that the EC had endorsed them.

Does the DS I’s selection be in accordance with the law if it accepts the situation for a special investigation and files legal actions against the legislators? Mr Karom said. The DSI, which is run by the justice minister, is run by the secretary. All legislation may follow the Constitution”.

” If the legislators are removed from office as a result of the DS I’s analysis, did the DSI been deemed to breach the law”? Mr Karom said. A system that uses its authority against a parliamentary system may run the risk of breaking the constitution.

The EC chair, Ittiporn Boonpracong, said on Saturday that the DSI has already sent its conclusions on the grievances against the lawmakers to the EC for attention.

The DSI claimed there were sufficient evidence to support the claims and that it wants to transfer the case to the EC, according to Mr. Ittiporn, adding that the EC did keep a meeting to discuss the problem.

According to sources who cited the DS I’s investigation, some of the complaints involved criminal offenses listed under the Criminal Code as well as those listed under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

In a month-long approach that involved in- and inter-professional group voting sessions at the local, provincial, and national rates last year, the latest 200-member Senate was chosen from 20 expert teams. Concerns have been raised regarding alleged collusion to manipulate the outcomes.
