BANGKOK: Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was surprised to take part in one of the biggest water fights on Friday( Apr 14 ), and he showed no signs of being depressed by a decline in popularity just weeks after an election.
Prayut showed up unexpectedly at Bangkok’s’s renowned Khaosan Road while wearing the colorful Hawaiian shirt customarily worn at the Thai New Year festival Songkran. He was the immediate goal of hundreds of partygoers carrying containers and water weapons.
Videos posted on social media showed the former army captain, who took over in a revolution in 2014, walking through cheering and whistled masses while repeatedly wiping water from his head and face and taking fire from all directions.
Soon after, the 69-year-old total went on the attack, taking aim at patrons from close variety with a luminous pump-action water weapon.
Prior to the May 14 general election, Prayut has struggled in opinion polls, with many prior national surveys indicating that he is less popular than Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the frontrunner for the top position.
