A permit for the incarceration of Thai Progressive Party MP, Chaiyamparwaan Manpianjit, for murder has not reached legislature, according to House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha.
However, Mr. Wan said that parliament will act immediately and handle it once the warrant is issued.  ,
If a judge issued an arrest warrant, he claimed, parliament does not need to organize a meeting and decide whether to remove the MP’s political immunity so that he can be tried.
The legislature leader does not need to be consulted, and authorities can jail him in congress.  ,
But, if the warrant was issued by the police, a legislative gathering would have to be called to decide on Mr Chaiyamparwaan’s position.
If this is proven true, a conference may be held within 15 days after police issued the permit to parliament.
Mr. Wan stated that he anticipated the Monday-to-the-parliament hearing on the permit. Next month, a legislature gathering would likely be held if necessary.  ,
The House Speaker claimed that MPs who hold public office are expected to be more responsible and to carry out higher moral standards than regular people.  ,
Even on Monday, Pol Sub Lt Arpath Sukhanunth, secretary-general of the House of Representatives, said Mr Chaiyamparwaan would keep parliament the difficulty of holding a conference if he quit as an MP and surrendered to authorities to fight the cost.  ,
Alleged blackmail
The assault reportedly occurred in Chiang Mai on Jan 9 and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Mr Chaiyamparwaan, 35, on Feb 4, according to local advertising options.
Authorities determined that Mr. Chaiyamphawaan’s demand was enough. Due to his MP position, police requested an investigation into the MP’s arrest, but no warrant has yet been issued.  ,
The Royal Thai Police (RTP ) is required to receive the court-approved arrest warrant first, according to procedure.  ,
According to a cause, the subpoena just reached the RTP on Saturday. It was scheduled to arrive at legislature on Tuesday.
The business of political proceedings will immediately make the warrant known as an essential matter when it is presented to parliament.
According to a cause nearer to him, Mr. Chaiyamparwaan is reportedly in Bangkok but intends to retreat before February 20.  ,
According to the cause, the MP has been the subject of bribery by the authorities in trade for dropping the case. A policeman summons was later elevated to an arrest warrant after the MP refrained.  ,
His legal group denied the murder charge, saying the sex was consensual.
In November 2023, Mr Chaiyamparwaan , was expelled from the Move Forward Party, after an internal investigation concluded that he had sexually harassed three aides.
