Thailand and Laos have collaborated on a health program aimed at preventing younger people from heart-related illnesses. In Thailand, as a result of this joint effort, about 30 kids have had powerful heart surgeries.
Dubbed” Saving Young’s Heart Crossing Mekong River,” the project is a cooperative effort between the Thai Red Cross, Chulalongkorn Hospital, Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine, the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation, the Thai consulate to Laos, Laos ‘ Public Health Ministry, and Mahosot Centre Hospital.
The project was started last year by Dr. Chanchai Sittipunt, the director of Chulalongkorn Hospital, after his paediatric intensive-care employees learned that the only hospital in the country capable of performing heart surgery on patients and needed more doctors to treat heart disease in children.
In accordance with the project, fresh Laos residents who have heart condition may be transferred to hospitals in Thailand for free medical care.
Chulalongkorn Hospital and Chulalongkorn University’s School of Global Health are also providing help with medical training and fellowships for neonatal intensive care, with the goal of increasing Laos ‘ ability to offer pediatric brain surgery in five years, according to Dr. Chanchai.
The five-year venture began in May of last year with the screening of 92 cases of adolescent congenital heart disease patients aged three months to twelve years old.
It found 37 of them were in need of immediate surgery in Thailand, said Dr Pirapat Mokarapong, secretary-general of the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation.
Thus far, 29 babies and children have been transferred to Bangkok and had productive activities.
Chulalongkorn Hospital handled two severe circumstances, and Kasemrad Hospital handled 27 more severe cases.
A 9-month-old child who had been diagnosed with cyanosis due to heart failure and an alternate coronary artery was the latest victim.
Three months ago, he was moved to Bangkok for an immediate functioning at Chulalongkorn Hospital, and he only weighed three kilogrammes.
The child, who is now one year older, left for his hometown of Luang Phrabang on Thursday after the successful operation.
A clinical staff from Chulalongkorn Hospital led his return house.
The boy’s parents expressed their gratitude, heartfelt thanks to Thailand for renouncing their son’s career, and the job.
