The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s ( MTI ) Permanent Secretary is one of three new additions to Temasek’s senior leadership team, which was announced on Monday ( Aug 5 ).
In a press release, the express investment said it is” constantly strengthening” its management chair and described the new recruits as having” complementary and/or distinguished capabilities” that will strengthen its existing teams.
All three are just created jobs.
On October 1st, Mr. Gabriel Lim will assume the role of mutual head of corporate strategy at Temasek. He has been MTI’s Permanent Secretary since April 2019 and now controls economic growth guidelines.
Prior to joining MTI, Mr. Lim served as the Ministry of Digital Development and Information’s Permanent Secretary and former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s Principal Private Secretary.
In his new role, Mr Lim will help to “develop and generate important business techniques” that support the implementation of Temasek’s 2030 plan.
In addition to separating Temasek from our competitors, the media transfer stated in a statement.
Developed in 2019, the T2030 plan is a 10-year blueprint to guide Temasek’s strategic planning in places such as the make-up of its investment, building up of features like new technology and organisational development.
Temasek’s representatives stated in a statement to reporters prior to the news that Mr. Lim’s “deep knowledge in plan creation and customer management, both in the public industry and from his broad engagements with the personal sector” make him a suitable candidate for the position.
Ms. Lim Ming Pey, who will lead business plan, cited Mr. Lim’s expertise in “high-level plan creation” and networks in both the personal and public sectors as assets that could improve Temasek.
After leaving the public service, Temasek claimed that this is not the first Permanent Secretary to join Temasek or its affiliates.
Other names include Neo Kian Hong, formerly SMRT’s group chief executive, and Mr. Desmond Kuek, who is currently Temasek Trust’s executive director and CEO.
Temasek’s chief corporate officer and head of organisation and people Chan Wai Ching said the firm is “always greedy for talents” and the firm” ( does not ) target a specific group” when hiring.
” It’s really ( about ) what is the role and how can we find the best fit for that position”, said Ms Chan.
The Public Service Division announced in a separate press release that Dr. Beh Swan Gin, who is currently MTI’s Permanent Secretary ( Development ), will be re-designated as such with effect from Sep 1.
From the same day, Mr. Jeffrey Siow Chen Siang, who is currently MTI’s Second Permanent Secretary, will take the position concurrently.
Chan Chun Sing, the public service minister, thanked Mr. Lim for” 24 years of distinguished service in the Singapore Public Service.”
