Tampines restaurant Abu Mubarak fined S$4,700 for food safety lapses following cases of gastroenteritis

SINGAPORE: Restaurant operator&nbsp, Abu Mubarak was on Thursday ( Jul 10 ) fined S$ 4, 700 ( US$ 3, 483 ) for food safety lapses, following reports of gastroenteritis last year among people who consumed food from its Tampines outlet.

In a news release, the Singapore Food Agency ( SFA ) and the Ministry of Health ( MOH) received reports of 12 gastroenteritis cases in April 2023. The restaurant is located at 300 Tampines Avenue 5 and is owned by SFA.

Two were hospitalised and immediately discharged.

Many food security blunders were discovered in a joint investigation by SFA and MOH at the cafe.

These included a insect infestation in the area where food was prepared and the hands of filthy food for sale.

On North Bridge Road, Abu Mubarak also has an exit.
