In April, Varuna Sridhar, an artist from the southern part of Indian city of Chennai, shared her painting of a cup of coffee upon social media. The reaction had been beyond her wildest dreams: Twitter customers were confused whether or not she had published a photograph or a painting, and it got tens of thousands of likes and gives, including from superstars.
After trying out different ones, the 21-year-old artist is now practising hyper-realism, a style of art where objects are depicted in a specifically realistic fashion. Plus her pet issue is food — especially the everyday food of the girl home state, Tamil Nadu.
