Taiwan's Hualien hit by 5.5-magnitude quake

Chinese :  A 5. 5-magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan’s eastern county of Hualien on Monday ( Apr 22 ), the island’s weather administration said, with no immediate reports of damage.

The quake, which had a degree of 10km, even shook structures in the investment Taipei.  

Hualien  was the point of a scale 7 centre 4 earthquake struck on April 3, causing floods in the mountainous area that blocked access to roads, and severely damaged buildings in the main Hualien area.

At least 17 people were killed in the collapse, with the latest brain discovered on Apr 13 in a mine.

Only one person is also unaccounted for thanks to aftershocks that have forced search teams to rely on a Malaysian couple.  

It is thought that Neo Siew Choo and Sim Hwee Kok are both missing. along the Shakadang Trail, according to Taiwan’s National Fire Agency.  

At around 7 o’clock, they were last seen leaving a shuttle van at the road. 20am on Apr 3, about 40 days before the collapse struck.  

In a Facebook group named   Hualien Earthquake Relief Information, another appeal was made on Sunday for more information about the child’s movements.

The team’s administrator  Sunny Sandro Wang posted a message from Mr Sim’s girl, saying :  ” It has been 19 days and despite the rescue team’s work, they have not been found. Our old families and we are heartbroken.

We make a call to everyone who was on the road that day or who knows of anyone who used this Facebook group to reach the family. “
