Local media reports that Chinese artist Barbie Hsu passed away from pneumonia after contracting the flu while on a vacation in Japan. She was 48.
Hsu is one of the biggest names in Mandarin-speaking countries, best known for his role in Meteor Garden, a television set from 2001.
Meteor Garden was dubbed in many cultures and made Hsu a huge star in the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.
Her girl, Dee Hsu, confirmed her death to Taiwan’s TVBS News on Monday.
” During the Lunar New Year, or relatives came to Japan for holidays. My beloved sister Barbie has sadly left us after getting bronchitis, triggered by an influenza”, Dee Hsu said in a statement shared by her boss.
” I’m proud to be her girl in this life, taking care of each another… I will often consider her and be thankful to her.
