Taiwan slams Bolivia for quake solidarity with China

Taiwan’s foreign minister criticized Bolivia on Saturday ( Apr 6 ) for showing support for China following an earthquake that hit the island.

The scale 7.2 earthquake that struck Taiwan on Wednesday left at least 10 people dead and more than 1,100 others injured. A large-scale disaster preparedness operation and strict building regulations are credited with preventing a larger crisis.

Bolivia’s foreign government issued a statement on Friday, stating that the nation “exprimes its cooperation with the girl People’s Republic of China, in the face of the loss of life and serious materials damage caused by a massive earthquake that occurred in recent hours off the coast of Taiwan.”

” You should n’t be the pathetic puppet of the evil, expansionist PRC,” said Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu in a post on X on Saturday.

” Only like Taiwan, Bolivia is NOT part of communist China. No more, no less”, he added.

Individually, Taiwan’s foreign ministry also condemned the Bolivian speech, saying it was “following the Taiwanese autocratic government to distribute false notes abroad that belittle our government’s sovereignty”.

Beijing has not renounced using push to bring Taiwan under its control, and it claims Taiwan as its own place.

Taiwan accuses Beijing of using risks or guarantees of financial aid to avert other nations from acknowledging it, and it only has 12 political allies.
