Taiwan rescuers narrow down search area for 2 missing Singaporeans in quake-hit Hualien

SINGAPORE: Taiwan rescuers on Sunday ( Apr 7 ) said they have narrowed down the search perimeters for the two missing Singaporeans&nbsp, following a&nbsp, magnitude 7.2 earthquake&nbsp, on Wednesday.

Authorities said the pair departed from a shuttle van at about 7.20 am on Wednesday, about 40 days before the earthquake struck, at the Shakadang road in Hualien’s Taroko National Park.

The couple was spotted in line at a bus stop in Hualien City on Wednesday morning at around 6.30 am. The van driver was unable to recall the couple’s destination, according to officials at the time.

The missing piece have been identified as&nbsp, Sim Hwee Kok and&nbsp, Neo Siew Choo, according to a Facebook group named &nbsp, Hualien Earthquake Relief Data.

According to Taiwan’s emergency response system on Sunday, rescuers narrowed down the search area and calculated their trekking route based on the bus’s Video footage.

The search and rescue work comprised various earth groups, including the helicopter units from Türkiye, it added.
