TAIPEI: As part of what Taipei refers to as routine harassment by Beijing amid heightened tensions across the strait, Taiwan’s defense ministry reported seeing 28 Chinese air force planes in its air defense zone on Wednesday( Sep 13 ).
As Beijing tries to defend its independence claims, constitutionally governed Taiwan, which China views as its own country, has recently complained about increased Chinese military activity close to the island.
According to Taiwan’s defense department, Chinese warplanes, including the J – 10 fighter, flew into the southwest corner of the air defense identification area, or ADIZ, at around 6 a.m. local time.
According to the government, some Chinese aircraft flew through the Bashi Channel to conduct exercises with the Shandong, a Taiwanese carrier, in the Pacific.
A request for comment was not immediately answered by China’s defense government.
The government added that Taiwan’s forces kept an eye on the situation and responded to such Chinese incursions by sending up its own weather pressure planes and turning on air defense systems.
According to Taiwan’s defense department, a Chinese naval creation led by the Shandong entered the eastern Pacific for education.
