As part of his second trip to Europe to strengthen relationships, Taiwan’s foreign minister Lin Chia-lung made an unannounced quit in Brussels this week to meet with members of the European Parliament.
As Taiwan struggles to defend its place from an exceedingly forceful China, which claims the self-ruled political island as a part of its own.
Prior to the start of a week-long vacation to Lithuania, Lin and a committee of representatives from 20 Chinese drone companies had been previously announced by the foreign ministry in Taipei.
Rasa Jukneviciene, a member of European Parliament, confirmed in a post on the social media platform X that she met Lin and Taiwan’s former de facto ambassador to Lithuania Eric Huang on Tuesday ( Nov 19 ) “at the European Parliament”.
Lin, the original Ukrainian defense secretary, added that she would be posting there on Wednesday.
In response, Lin said on Wednesday:” I extended my heartfelt gratitude to Jukneviciene… for her help during our gathering”.
He continued,” We will work hard to achieve success,” and I look forward to more strengthening diplomatic relations with Lithuania.
Lin “visited the German Union/Belgium to meet with friends in the European Parliament,” according to Taiwan’s foreign government in a quick speech on Wednesday.
He “used this attend to interact and communicate with German friends”, the department said, without providing information.
