A European man who has owned a barbershop on Koh Phangan for nine decades has been detained for working in a trade union only for Thai citizens.
On Tuesday, local police and local authorities detained Oliver Ehrat, 51, at the Oliver Twist Hair factory in Ban Tai on the holiday area.
A European barberer’s Instagram ads were published on Facebook after a police investigation revealed that the Oliver Twist Hair store had run them. Orders may be made on WhatsApp.
Mr. Ehrat testified to the police that he had a work permit to operate as the handling director of the Oliver Twist Art Co. He has now been in charge of Oliver Twist Hair Salon for nine times. Service charges ranged from 500 ringgit to 4, 000 rmb.
He was detained by the imprisoning staff for working in a profession that was not permitted for foreigners. He was turned over to Koh Phangan authorities officials for legal actions.
