A Finnish visitor was bitten on the throat by a , monkey while visiting , Phra Prang Sam Yot, one of the most famous landmarks in Lop Buri state.
Joel Gilbert was taken by save staff to Phra Narai Maharat Hospital, for treatment and vaccination.
Banjerd Roisaensuk, Phra Prang Sam Yot caregiver, claimed that the chimps in the area have previously attacked people. Their agressive behavior might be caused by a number of things, including simply standing too close to them or their adolescent.  ,
Mr. Banjerd claimed that if authorities had been there more frequently, the assault on Monday evening might have been prevented. The place had been largely populated by chimps for some time.
The Department of National Park, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation ( DNP ) had previously reduced the area’s macaque population, but the monkeys simply kept coming back, he said.
The chimps had a standing for stealing things from naive customers. Tourists were advised to avoid carrying brightly colored sacks in the area and bringing spectacles and headbands with them. These may bring the agttention of the primates, he said.
Authorities issue a special caution to readers who want to photograph the macaques.
