Sussan Ley, who succeeded Peter Dutton after he led the Liberal Party to a gloomy vote battle, has been elected as its leader for the first time in Australia.
Ley, a member of the moderate party, won the election by four vote over Angus Taylor, who ran with the promise to reestablish traditional values.
The Liberal-National alliance, the country’s main opposition party, lost what some people describe as the worst fight in its background at the election on May 3.
The outcome was attributed to polarizing leaders, a noisy campaign, and” Trumpian” policies, according to experts and MPs.
Ley’s visit comes as Anthony Albanese, the prime minister’s sworn in at Parliament House on Tuesday, the day after his Labor Party won a overwhelmingly in the poll.
