Suspected insurgent killed, soldier hurt in Narathiwat clash

After people reported suspected insurgents, a gunfight breaks up.

A warrior guard escaped unhurt on Thursday morning when a roadside bomb detonated in the same area as a suspected insurgent and wounded a soldier in a fight in Chanae, this southern province.

The shootout erupted when officers, men and officers surrounded a home in Aibaloh community, Moo 6, tambon Chang Phuek, around 6am, according to Pol Col Narawee Binae-arong, director of Chanae authorities station.

One suspected rebel was found dead inside the home after the gunshots ended, and Sgt. Veerasak Phansor was taken to Chanae Hospital for treatment of his left leg wound.

The incident was reportedly a result of information from village residents about suspected insurgents hiding out, according to the Internal Security Operation Command ( Isoc ) Region 4. &nbsp,

The house’s owners opened fire with war-wielding arms as a result of a particular procedures unit’s coordination with appropriate agencies to encircle it before trying to flee.

However, a roadside bomb went off on Highway 4055 at Ruepor community in Chanae at 7.15am, as defense soldiers passed by. No deaths were reported.
