The Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand ( Pubat ) claims that more than half of people over the age of 50 prefer reading e-books because they can expand the fonts.

According to Phuket’s secretary-general, rise in the Thai guide market appears to have significantly increased this year, which is in line with the survey on people’s reading habits and book purchases. The analysis was jointly conducted by Pubat and Chulalongkorn University’s University of Psychology.

In January and February, 2,550 people of all ages statewide took part in the survey. It demonstrated that Thai readers of all ages read books on regular every day for 113 days.

Books that people aged between 12 and 19 read the most ( 72 % ) are textbooks and test preparation books, while people aged 20-29, 30-39 and 40-49 mostly read self-improvement books, accounting for 52 %, 57 % and 51 %, respectively. About half of people of all ages like reading books and 47 % like reading e-books, said Mr Teeranai.

58 % of individuals over 50 prefer reading e-books because they can expand the fonts as much as they like when separating the age groups.
