Suriya promises to upgrade logistics sector

focuses on marine transportation and carriages

Suriya Jungrung-reangkit, the minister of transportation, has vowed to strengthen Thailand’s logistics system by concentrating on its railways and marine transportation system.

On his first day as the transport secretary, Mr. Suriya told reporters that he had discussed the strategy with his deputies and sought the advice of various government agencies. He stated that the procedures would be made public sometime next week.

According to Mr. Suriya, the logistics industry makes up almost 15 % of the country’s gross domestic product( GDP ), but only 2 % of it is fueled by rail and maritime travel. In order to increase Thailand’s fight, he added, it needs to strengthen its transport infrastructure.

He assured the country’s rail system that the double-track improvements would be finished on schedule, increasing ridership and luring additional investment.

The agency’s top priority is completing the 29.7 billion baht double-track upgrades on the Khon Kaen to Nong Khai range.

According to Mr. Suriya, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin intends to visit the project site quickly.

Mr. Suriya announced that he will ask Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang to give up any unused trip games held by the Royal Thai Air Force at terminals under AoT control in an effort to make room for the expanding number of airlines that intend to offer professional solutions to Thailand.

By doing this, he said,” we will be able to increase the number of commercial airlines served by the terminals by 100 to 150 per time.”

” Slots must be allocated in accordance with demand, and at this time, commercial airlines require the RTAF’s slots ,” particularly as the high season draws near.

Gambling distribution is decided by the Thai Civil Aviation Authority after evaluating the handling capacity of each airport.

When questioned about the 20-baht transportation cover for electric trains, he responded that while the ministry recognizes the value of fairfares, it must bargain with concessionaires like Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc.

He noted that the Green Line is simultaneously managed by the Interior Ministry and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, which adds to the problem of each line being supervised by a different firm.

If the charges are capped at 20 rmb, he said, the number of riders is anticipated to increase by 10 %.
