PHETCHABUN – Four boys were injured by flames while they were watching a teacher’s scientific study using motor fuel that had accidentally been mingled with oil.  

The incident occurred on Tuesday at Na Chaliang Pittayakom School in Nong Phai area, a Petchabun online media Twitter website reported.

The instructor in charge of the study, identified as Lerkchai, said he had used motor oil in a burner that was common DIY products. Engine oil usually does not get fire.

Mr Lerkchai believed that the fuel vessel had previously been used to store explosive diesel, causing sparks to be emitted when he poured the water into the products.

Four kids standing close to the task suffered burn to their faces and bodies. They were rushed to Nong Phai hospital for treatment and eventually released as their conditions were never significant, virtual media reported.

The event was shared website, drawing some comments from netizens wishing the boys to restore immediately. Some other students manifest during the trial commented beneath the article, saying it was an incident and not the teacher’s fault.

The university director, Supitchaya Lekdaeng, later stated that the incident happened during a science school for Grade 8 students. The professor took immediate actions to support the wounded individuals and informed their parents. He afterwards visited them to following up on their treatment. The university has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and emphasised the importance of safety procedures during research to avoid future occurrences.
