Student motorcyclist killed, passenger injured by cornering truck

NAKHON PHANOM: A student was killed and his passenger seriously hurt when their motorcycle was hit by a container-truck on a part in Muang region on Monday morning.

The accident occurred about 7. 30am upon Highway 212 (Nakhon Phanom-That Phanom) in Kham Thao community in tambon Tha Kho, Pol Capt Kongrit Polsri, the duty officer at Muang police station, said.

The container vehicle was heading for Nakhon Phanom town plus hit a motorcycle while negotiating the bend before working into a roadside energy pole.

The motorcycle operater, Thanawut Yasa, 19, a first-year pupil of Nakhon Phanom University, was slain. The pillion driver, Yospol Homsai, nineteen, a second-year student of the same university, suffered two broken legs and has been rushed to Nakhon Phanom Hospital.

The pickup truck driver, Kittisak Wongphukhiew, 33, from Khon Kaen’s Phu Pha Man district, had been only slightly hurt.

Law enforcement were investigating the cause of the accident.
