Stuart MacGill, a former American star batsman, has been charged with his alleged involvement in an extensive cocaine supply plot.
The 52-year-old, who played 44 Test games for Australia, was detained by police on Tuesday in Sydney.
When MacGill was reportedly kidnapped and beaten in 2021, their investigation was launched.
Although the original bowler has not yet filed a plea, he has previously denied being involved in drug supply.
After claiming to have been confronted and coerced into a vehicle in the Sydney district of Cremorne, MacGill garnered international attention in April 2021.
He claims that after being supposedly driven to a secluded spot on the outskirts of the city, he was assaulted and threatened at gun before being taken to another location and freed.
In the alleged incident, MacGill suffered small wounds but did not need medical attention.
Police at the time claimed MacGill was” strictly” a victim, and he stated in an interview after the alleged kidnapping,” I’ve done nothing wrong.”
Six people have been charged in connection with the incident, including his then-partner’s sibling.
However, following a two-year investigation, police have now also accused MacGill of taking part in the offer of an enormous corporate amount of illegal drugs.
The alleged deal, according to local media, involved more than$ 300,000 worth of cocaine.
MacGill may appear in court again on October 26 after being released on bail.
MacGill was a spin for the national squad between 1998 and 2008 and was once ranked as the second-best bowling in the world, behind his teammate Shane Warne.
