Authorities announced on Wednesday that Duen, the one-month-old rhino calf that strayed from its cattle in Nakhon Ratchasima last quarter, had passed away.
The Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation and Kanchana Silpa-Archa, a consultant for the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, announced the suicide on Facebook.
On November 8, Duen was discovered wandering the tambon Jorakeh Hin tapioca land. Its family always came back for the baby, despite the fact that wildlife rangers built a sanctuary to keep it protected from the elements.
As the elephant baby stopped eating, it started to lose weight, which prompted veterinarians to keep it under observation for 24 hours and give it iv nutrition.
However, Duen’s condition persisted in getting worse, and on Wednesday around 4 a.m., it passed away, according to the Save Khon, Save Chang wildlife conservation group ( Save People ,Save Elephants ).
