Stranded tourists rescued from flash flood in Thailand’s Uthai Thani province

Campers and visitors were saved from a flash storm that struck Ban Rai city of Uthani Thani Saturday night because the main basic province is one of five flood-hit regions on Sunday.

A few hours after a heavy downpour, the flash flood occurred in the rocky Ban Rai city on Saturday at around 8 o’clock.

The floor in front of Anubarn Ban Rai School was about one meter underground, with different storm amounts.

At a park, rainwater washed away a car and about 10 guests were stranded. After the recent weakened late on Saturday night, they were saved.

Two travellers tried to leave a caffeine shop, but they were nearly swept by rainwater. They were one of seven customers who had been left it. They were safely moved to safety on higher ground by the shop’s technician.

The flash storm even hit a business in the Ban Rai city. Small vehicles could n’t cross many local roads. Visitors were forced to leave and their belongings moved.

Ban Rai has been designated a disaster area by Theerapat Katchamat, the government of Uthai Thani, to provide aid to flood victims.

The declared crisis place covered 20 settlements in Bang Bueng, Ban Rai, Chao Wat, Huay Haeng and Khok Khwai sub-districts of Ban Rai area.

Uthai Thani was one of five counties in which flooding was reported on Sunday by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. The others were Ayutthaya, Lamphun, Nakhono Pathom and Suphanburi.
