State-run pawnshops get 2 years’ credit

The cabinet yesterday allowed the Public Pawnshop Office (PPO) to continue overdrawing so it will have enough money to help ease state-run pawnshops’ liquidity, deputy government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek.

Borrowing as much as 500 million baht by the PPO throughout another two years from the Government Savings Bank was approved by the cabinet at the weekly meeting.

The extended credit line is intended to assist sustain the PPO’s financial ability to support state-run pawnshops countrywide, which have been forced to provide more customers throughout recent periods of economic difficulty, stated Ms Rachada.
