There were rumors that the finals were skewed in her favor and that she had an unjust advantage because two of the three ability obstacles were dance-based.
” Not at all”! When we inquired if she felt that way, Bay said defiantly. For example, she was acquainted with the dancing models she performed on stage.  ,
” If my dance looked nice enough to be considered an’ cruel edge,’ I’ll take that as a compliment”, she laughed.
” As a breakdancer, it was really difficult, and I constantly ask people how they walk in shoes without looking like a klutz”, she added.
But certainly, given her background in dance, she must have felt comfortable in comparison to the other contestants.
Bay acknowledged that the only benefit she likely had was the ability to accurately qualify the beat of the music.
” But it would be the same for anyone who has learned music”, she said. ” I would even say that because I’ve explored different styles like Chinese dance, modern, and hip hop, my body felt more at ease with movement.”
She doubled down, yet, saying she didn’t make things easier for herself and that her attitude at the time was one of focus on how she could have done better.
She mentioned previously attending enrichment classes or tuition during a discussion about her early years at Clementi Primary and Clementi Town Secondary.
” My parents believed that if you study the right way, you can become an independent learner”, she shared.  ,” If I definitely needed support, I’d just get get my teachers and friends”.
Looking up, Gladys Bay said her family wasn’t the most well-off, but she never felt it growing away.
She said,” I was to distracted to enjoy all my parents gave me.”
Her father works as a top operator, moving fruits and vegetables, while her mother was originally in revenue and is now semi-retired. Both men are in their fifties.
After graduating from NTU, she took on many jobs as a skill, dabbling in dancing, business modeling, and hosting.
” I think I became more rebel as I grew older because I simply didn’t like a normal full-time job”, she laughed.
