Sri Lanka president eyes parliament win in snap election

Sajith Premadasa, the opposition leader who had campaigned for a coalition government, pledged to “put force” on Dissanayake to fulfill his campaign promises of tax breaks at his last campaign rally.

Poll observers and analysts note that the passion for Thursday’s election had not been as high as it had been in earlier polls.

Political analyst Kusal Perera claimed that opposition parties did n’t do much campaigning.

” The criticism is dead”, Perera said. ” The result of the election is a given summary”.

Over 60 senior officials from the previous leadership have chosen to remain silent.

The People’s Front, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna ( SLPP ), or the People’s Front, predominated in the outgoing parliament, which has since split in favor of the party of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa. &nbsp,

Rajapaksa is no contesting, but his brother Namal, a previous sports minister, is seeking re-election.
