Srettha assures coalition bloc 'intact'
Srettha: To plan a “dinner group.”

Srettha Thavisin, the prime minister, intervened yesterday to allay worries about a gap between the coalition parties, insisting that the bloc is still alive despite indications of hostilities among some partners.

He promised to host dinner for all union members yesterday, noting that such events should preferably be held at least once a month or every two weeks but that alliance members can discuss current events or voice their concerns.

Mr. Srettha made his remarks as the government coalition was reportedly at odds over the Commerce Ministry’s recent decision to set the honey rate. The Industry Ministry, which is in charge of maintaining the home honey supply, is under the command of the United Thai Nation Party, while the government is governed by Pheu Thai.

Additionally, there were rumors of a dispute involving the submission of companies under the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry, which led Pheu Thai part Deputy Agriculture Minister Chaiya Promma to criticize Palang Pracharath Party member Thammanat Prompow.

Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, who is also the deputy head of Pheu Thai, was compelled to intervene in order to calm the situation. On Wednesday and Monday, Mr. Srettha stated that he wanted to keep the coalition party dinner to a small, intimate gathering with approximately ten guests.

Separately, a Pheu Thai source claimed that Mr. Srettha was interrogated on Tuesday for failing to implement the group’s campaign pledges, which include the electric budget scheme worth 10,000 baht. In the upcoming weeks, Mr. Sretta does present the plan to the public.
