Previous West Java government Ridwan Kamil, who backed Mr Prabowo during the national election, is also being touted as a candidate by his group, Golkar. His term as governor of West Java came to an end in September of last year.
The head of Golkar’s West Java chapter Ace Hasan Syadzily stated on Tuesday ( May 14 ) that Mr. Ridwan prefers to run in West Java again despite the billboards of Mr. Ridwan with the tagline “on the way Jakarta” adoring some parts of the capital.  ,
Mr. Ridwan Kamil has informed me that he is currently leaning toward ( running in ) West Java, according to Mr. Ace. He even pointed out that the party’s role in where he will be “assigned” is dependent on the situation.
A person may run for governor double, but Mr. Ridwan does make a second bid because he has already done so again.
Ahok, however, sparked a political storm just after launching a podcast called” Ask Ahok Everything” to address problems faced by Jakarta and its people.
He took over as Jakarta government in 2014 after Mr Widodo, also known as Jokowi, became leader. Jokowi ran in the 2017 Jakarta general election against two other individuals: Mr Anies, who was quickly Jokowi’s learning minister until 2016, and Mr Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, brother of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.  ,
Initial results showed that Ahok was in the lead, but because he did not receive more than 50 % of the vote, the poll turned into a runoff in which he lost to Mr. Anies.  ,

To move freely, candidates had to record with Jakarta’s election committee between May 8 and 12. Mr. Anies did not register at the time, which implies that if he wants to run this election, he must be supported by social events.
He was supported by Gerindra and the Prosperous Justice Party ( PKS) in 2017 with his support. The National Mandate Party ( PAN ) joined the coalition to support him in the second round of the election.
Former police commissioner public Dharma Pongrekun, who chose Mr. Kun Wardana Abyoto as his operating mate, was the only pair to register individually for this year’s presidential election.
Independent candidates are, nevertheless, often not strong challengers, said Mr Aditya from the University of Indonesia.
Independent individuals are typically useless because they are seen as next choices, he said, adding that they lack the support of skilled political parties and campaign machinery.  ,
