South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol defied prosecutors’ summons in martial law probe: Report

Yoon Suk Yeol, the president of South Korea, did not follow the prosecution’s summons on Sunday ( Dec. 15 ), according to Yonhap news agency, and they intend to issue a new order as they look into his waning martial law decree.

Yoon and a number of top leaders are facing charges of rebellion, abuse of authority, and preventing others from exercising their rights.

Yoon was summonsed on Wednesday to look for questioning at 10am on Sunday, according to Yonhap, and the particular trial team that is looking into his failed attempt to impose martial rules.

According to the review, the trial intends to issue a second call on Monday.

Yoon was suspended from his political duties on Saturday after being impeached for his military law decree.

According to Yonhap, senior military officers ‘ arrest warrants were sought on Sunday, including those for the Army Special Warfare Command’s head and the head of the money defense order.

Separately, authorities said about 1, 500 soldiers were mobilised when Yoon declared martial law on Dec 3.
