After the recovery work on the Jeju Air crash is complete, South Korea’s acting president Choi Sang-mok ordered an emergency safety inspection of the country’s entire airline operation system on Monday ( Dec 30 ).
An aircraft slammed into a roof at Muan International Airport on Sunday, causing the deadliest air accident in South Korea, killing 179 people and colliding with the runway at the end.
No obtainable resources may be spared for the time being spent identifying the sufferers, supporting their communities, and treating the two victims, Choi said at a Seoul-based meeting on crisis management.
We request that officials openly disclose the accident investigation process and tell the grieving families even before the last results are released, he said.
The Transport Ministry is requested to do an emergency health inspection of the whole aircraft operation system as soon as the accident recovery is finished, he said. This will stop more accidents from occurring.
