In moments of high drama, Yoon’s pronouncement of South Korea’s second martial law in more than four decades was soon overturned by lawmakers&nbsp, but it has caused the nation to become agitated and alarmed friends.

Yoon, a liberal legislator and former top public prosecutor who was elected president in 2022, has a very uncertain future ahead.

Opposition politicians filed a motion to impeach Yoon after entering parliament, tussling with security forces, and voting down the military law immediately on Tuesday through Wednesday.

The action accuses Yoon of imposing military law to escape investigations into “alleged illegal acts involving himself and his family” and claims that he “violated the constitution and the law.”
