SEOUL:  , South Korea’s opposition said on Tuesday ( Dec 24 ) it would hold back a decision to impeach acting president Han Duck-soo until later in the week.
In response to the time president’s refusal to pass special bills to evaluate his impeached predecessor, the opposition Democratic Party announced it may file an impeachment movement against Hanon on Tuesday.
” We have decided to exercise patience, taking into account the sentiments of the people, and wait until the 26th ( Thursday ) to determine whether our demands are met”, floor leader Park Chan-dae said.
The original intention was for Han to promulgate two unique costs that would look into Yoon Suk Yeol’s brief but soon-delivered application of martial law as well as bone allegations involving his family, Kim Keon Hee.
Following his simple declaration of martial law 11 times prior, which plunged the nation into its worst political crisis in years, the conventional leader was removed from power by congress on December 14.
Yoon is currently anticipating a selection from the Consitutional Court, which will need to have six members ‘ votes before the impeachment movement can be approved. Now three seats are clear, and can be appointed.
But Han, who stepped in to remove Yoon, rejected the opponent’s need at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, insisting on republican contracts for the two Costs.
Han’s position “left us with no other choice but to view it as his intent to carry on the insurrection by halting operations,” Park said in a press briefing earlier.
Yoon is currently under investigation by a combined group comprising officers, the defence ministry, and anti-corruption authorities.
