South Korea reports initial findings of Jeju Air crash to ICAO, US and Thailand

All but two of the 181 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 737-800 flight, which was departing from Bangkok and was scheduled to arrive at Muan International Airport, died on December 29 when it overshot the runway during an emergency tummy getting and crashed into the localiser construction.

The localiser aids in the routing of an aeroplane approaching the airport, and experts have suggested that the construction at Muan Airport, which supports the system’s antennae and is constructed of reinforced concrete and earth, was likely to be the cause of the catastrophe.

The pilots were having a conversation about a flock of birds they spotted on its last approach, which was one of the initial findings made by the South Korean authorities that were shared with the patients ‘ people on Saturday.

The exact time of a bird strike that the pilots reported is still unknown, according to the accident report, but the aircraft “made an emergency declaration ( Mayday x 3 ) for a bird strike during a go-around.”

” Both vehicles were examined, and birds and bird body spots were found on each“, it said.

” After the fall into the hillside, fireplace and a limited explosion occurred. Both vehicles were buried in the embankment’s land hill, and the upper aircraft scattered up to 30m to 200m from the embankment”, it said.

The report makes no mention of what might have caused the two files recorders to stop recording together just before the pilots announced May 1st.

The plane was at 152m flying at 298 kmh when the dark bins stopped recording, it said.
